KAP is 100% a Sri Lankan company, co-founded by 2 expert coconut farmers, Mr. Upali Liyanage and Mr. Lalitha Rathnayake, who strongly believes in the essence of natural and pure agricultural produce. An ethos reflected throughout our premium range of Natural Coconut Products which has made KAP the largest exporter for Coconut Cream in Sri Lanka.

Our vision is simple and practical. ‘Simple’ because it’s to be the first choice of international and national customers when it comes to premium products based on coconut. It’s ‘practical’ because all our products are manufactured using coconuts grown in Sri Lanka… where the best quality coconut in the world is.

Combining the superior quality of Sri Lankan Coconut with 60+ years of expertise of local coconut farmers and manufacturers, KAP has been able to be an all Sri Lankan brand making coconut products lead by a UHT Coconut Cream with inimitable quality and taste, chosen by industrial food manufacturers from over 25 nations.

Unlike some parts of the world where monkeys are trained to pluck coconuts, at Kandetiya Agro Products, we practise ethical harvesting. The coconuts used for our high-quality organic and conventional Coconut Cream and Coconut Milk are plucked by well-paid trained professionals. KAP’s good will does not end there.

KAP has earned Fair Trade, Fair for Life and Sedex certifications and maintains special CSR programs. We always believe the amount we care for our employees is reflected through our products, and the quality of UHT Coconut Cream and Coconut Milk manufactured at KAP explains it all. KAP is a family… stretching throughout the Coconut Triangle of Sri Lanka. Hence, we always consider the betterment of our stake holders as a responsibility which we cannot ever forget.

UHT Coconut Cream and UHT Coconut Milk produced at KAP are 100% free from additives such as preservatives, sweeteners, or stabilizers, making it 2 simple ingredients: water and coconut milk. Then the remarkable physiochemical qualities we have been able to achieve such as good viscosity, consistency and the ability to avoid layer separation at storage temperatures from 4⁰-30⁰C due to unique manufacturing methods, attracts international food manufacturers to KAP products.

The list doesn’t end there. The superior quality of Sri Lankan Coconut helps KAP’s Coconut-based products easily stand out from the competition. Also, the upstream production of our raw material which is coconut milk, is done in facilities which follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in the highest level, creating a platform allowing nothing but quality, as the final produce.

Yes. Even though we do not use stabilizers or any other additives, KAP’s UHT Coconut Cream and UHT Coconut Milk has a stable 4⁰-30⁰C range of storage temperature. The secret behind this achievement is due to a sophisticated manufacturing technique called “Homogenization.”

Layer separation of coconut milk or any other milk containing fat, is also known as “Curdling.” It’s due to solidification of the oil globules at room temperature and separating itself from the milk creating 2 layers in the process. The watery milk layer will remain at the bottom whilst a cream layer on the top.

In Homogenization, which is done using a Homogenizer at KAP, the fat globules are broken into smaller particles and distributed uniformly across the milk, resulting in a stable emulsion and preventing from layer separation.

No preservatives are added! Then how do KAP’s Coconut Cream and Coconut Milk have a shelf life of 18 months or 1 ½ years? It is due to the method of processing known as Ultra High Temperature (UHT) processing and aseptic packaging.

Food products become unsafe for consumption mainly due to microbial activity which would also harm its organoleptic properties. Rather than using chemicals to alter microbial activities in UHT processing, Coconut Milk is heated up to high temperatures by which all living microorganisms are killed along with their spores. Once finished the UHT process, the Coconut Milk or the Coconut Cream is free from microorganisms. Then it’s packaged in such a way where it cannot be contaminated with microorganisms. That’s done by aseptic packaging.

It’s the same difference between dairy milk and cream. Coconut Cream contains more fat than a similar volume of Coconut Milk, which is achieved by removal of water. The more water removed, the thicker and creamier the Coconut Cream would be. Other than this, there’s no difference in the substance.

At Kandetiya Agro Products, we receive consignments of fresh Coconut Milk from RMP Coconut Products and Upali DC Mills. Depending on what our international and national buyers need, we receive coconut milk from 2 fat levels. To produce UHT Coconut Milk, we receive coconut milk with a fat content of 18% which is less creamy and for UHT Coconut Cream production, we receive coconut milk with a fat content of 24%, which is creamier with a higher viscosity. The only differentiation when it comes to Coconut Cream Vs Coconut Milk.

The milk is then directed to the UHT process where it’s homogenized to stop layer separation and treated with high temperatures to eliminate all microbial activities, followed by aseptic filling.

  1. Coconut Milk Contains medium-chain fatty acids which helps reducing body fat, increase fullness and potentially improve the gut environment by reducing food absorption disorders.
  2. Coconut Milk has anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties due to the presence of a lipid called Lauric Acid. Hence, consumption of this plant-based milk is beneficial in increasing the immunity.
  3. Coconut Milk may support cardiovascular health due to the presence of Lauric Acid, a lipid which is described a “good cholesterol,” as its intake increases the High-Density Lipoprotein (HDL) levels in the body.
  4. Coconut Milk gives the ability to fight cancer due to the presence of phenols, which are antioxidants. Antioxidants reduce the number of free radicals, which are waste material from cellular activities, damaging cells and increasing oxidative stress.
  5. Coconut Milk promotes weight loss due to the presence of medium-chain triglycerides which stimulate energy, boost exercise endurance and insulin sensitivity.
  6. Coconut Milk is a calorie-rich food due to the high availability of saturated fats.
  7. Coconut Milk contains high levels of Calcium and vitamins such as A, B12, and D2.

Yes, it is. Coconut Milk is extracted from the white meat (kernel) of the coconut hence it is a plant-based milk.

Lactose is a type of sugar found only in food products made using animal milk (dairy products). The condition of Lactose Intolerance is occurring of symptom like abdominal cramps and pain, nausea, bloating, gas and diarrhea after consuming diary products. This is due to the inability of digesting lactose. Lactose Intolerance is found in both children and adults and it’s a condition with no treatment and could only be controlled by diet changes.

Coconut Milk is a great alternative for dairy, as it is a plant-based milk, and plant-based milks do not contain lactose.
